The new blueprint for wide format

Time for a new approach
The Acuity range already has a deserved reputation for quality and reliability, with thousands of printers installed worldwide since the range was launched in 2007, but for this next chapter in the Acuity story we wanted to offer far more than just marginal improvements.
We brought in a specialist industrial design company and tasked them with not only making changes to what we had before, we gave them the freedom to completely rethink the design in order to maximise value, productivity, ease of use and return on investment.
Back to the drawing board
Together with our new industrial design team, we decided to go back to the drawing board. We visited print businesses all over Europe, spending time understanding the objectives of the owners and directors, as well as talking to the press operators who experience the day-to-day frustrations of operating specialist inkjet equipment. Through that exercise we learned about what worked, what didn’t, and what changes (whether simple or radical) needed to be made in order to make a step change in usability to boost productivity, reduce waste and make for a safer and more efficient workplace.
Bringing it all together
We then combined this research with our own knowledge and inkjet expertise built up over 20 years, to create a design brief. This formed the basis of the next stage - a comprehensive search for the best components and technologies on the market and the best routes to assembly and manufacture - to define a new blueprint for what a UV inkjet system should look like, and how it should perform.
The result
Three years on, the result of this blueprint is the all new Acuity range, designed and developed by Fujifilm. This new Acuity range is built for printers from the ground up. It redefines the price / performance of a UV inkjet system, radically changing print ROI. It brings a new meaning to versatility and value. It resets the expectations around operational ease of use. And of course, it’s from Fujifilm, meaning quality and reliability are a given.
The all new Acuity range
The first two presses made to this new blueprint are the Acuity Ultra R2 and the Acuity Prime. Both are the end result of countless hours of R&D and face-to-face market research. The Acuity Ultra R2 is a completely redesigned and significantly improved version of our super-wide format Acuity Ultra, which itself set a new benchmark for price, performance and quality when it was launched in 2018. The Acuity Prime is an entirely new, mid-range flatbed which offers ease of use and print ROI unmatched by anything else on the market.
Recognition for design excellence
We’re delighted that both the Acuity Ultra R2 and the Acuity Prime have already been recognised for design excellence by the prestigious Red Dot design awards, one of the most internationally sought-after seals of quality for good design. What the Red Dot judges have seen already, many print businesses around the world are also soon going to see for themselves: the new blueprint for wide format.

UV and UV LED technology have many environmental benefits
At Fujifilm, we’re committed to a greener future for print. Energy-efficient curing systems, including UV LED, help save on energy use. In fact, we’ve looked at how much energy Acuity printers use compared to other major platforms, and the results are impressive. Acuity has been shown to use significantly less.
What’s more, Fujifilm’s Uvijet inks meet some of the most stringent product emissions standards in the world, making them a safe, high-quality UV ink suitable for a vast array of industries and uses. They’re manufactured at our award-winning facility in Broadstairs, United Kingdom, which is a zero-to-landfill site and powered largely by an onsite solar energy system.
